Trail Repair at Stevens Creek County Park
For 2005, we will be starting a new project repair the lower portion of the Zinfandel Trail in Stevens Creek County Park.
The Park Maintenance Leader for this project is Drew Merry.
For more information about Stevens Creek County Park, see the
Stevens Creek County Park info page.
Directions: From Highway 280, exit Foothill Boulevard, go south to Stevens Creek Boulevard. Continue straight on
Foothill Boulevard, which turns into Stevens Canyon Road.
From Highway 85, exit Stevens Creek Boulevard, go west to Foothill Boulevard. Turn left onto Foothill Boulevard, which turns
into Stevens Canyon Road.
Combined directions (after you are on Stevens Creek Road):
Proceed past the main Stevens Creek County Park parking on the left near the dam, then continue on Stevens Canyon Road another
2.1 miles to the junction with Mount Eden Road. at a stop sign. Bear right, staying on Stevens Canyon Road, go a hundred yards and
make the first right (follow the signs for Cooley Picnic Area and Camp Costonoa). Go across bridge and then bear right into the lot
for Cooley Picnic Area (DO NOT go up the hill to the left to Camp Costonoa). Park around the “shop.” Drive to Cooley parking lot
but continue up the road/hill until you reach the end of the road where the park’s shop is located.
Some south bay folks may want to use Pierce Road to Mount Eden road, then take the hard left at the junction with Stevens Canyon
Road at the stop sign.
- Saturday, February 19, 2005 - Zinfandel Trail
- Activities: Spend a day with Trail Center volunteers helping to repair the Zinfandel Trail. This effort will include clearing some culverts,
installing a French drain, and removing a tree. Required are enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to use implements for digging
and dirt moving. Technical skills for trail creation and maintenance will be taught by qualified experienced trail builders. Wear
closed toe shoes. Boots and long sleeve shirts are recommended, but not essential. As with most peninsula parks, exposure to some
poison oak is possible, although every effort is made to minimize contact. The Trail Center will supply all tools and gloves. The
rain date for this trail build is February 26th. [COMPLETED]
- Saturday, April 23, 2005 - Zinfandel Trail
- Activities: Celebrate Earth Day with the Trail Center as we perform general maintenance, tread repair, and drainage improvements
on the Zinfandel Trail in Stevens Creek County Park in Santa Clara County. Varied terrain, beautiful flowers, and distant views will
be yours as you help us “give back” to the parks we all enjoy. Required are enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to use implements
