Bay Area Ridge Trail - San Mateo County

The Bay Area Ridge Trail ultimately will be a 500+ mile trail encircling the San Francisco Bay along the ridge tops, open to hikers, equestrians, mountain bicyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts of all types. So far over 330 miles of trail has been dedicated for use by Bay Area residents, now and forever.

Location: Skyline Trail segment at King's Mountain Road, Woodside, California - Bay Area Ridge Trail

Directions: We will park and stage from the Huddart County Archery Range. From Woodside Road (84) in Woodside village, turn onto Kings Mountain Road, and proceed uphill past the Horse Patrol Road intersection. Go past the main Huddart Park entrance, and drive a further 2.2 miles uphill on Kings Mountain Road. The Archery Range is at a normally closed gate, which will be opened and signed for the event, at the bend of a sharp hairpin turn. For GPS users, set your route for N 37 25.701 W 122 18.237.

Additional Information: Participants should bring water, sunscreen, sturdy shoes and normal precautions against poison oak exposure (work gloves, long sleeved shirts and long pants). The Trail Center provides tools, training, gloves, and refreshments after the workday.

Assemble at 8:30 for assignment to crews and for the safety and tool usage talk.

We will start work at 9 am and finish by 3 pm.

Saturday, November 03, 2012 - Bay Area Ridge Trail (Skyline Trail segment)

Activities: We will be doing a massive clean-up and widening of the Skyline Trail segment between Wunderlich Park and Huddart Park. There are long stretches of this trail segment where the tread is very narrow or where it's encroaching on the outside edge and needs to be re-centered. Some drainage problems and any brushing required will be done.

We'll meet at the Archery Range and then shuttle all volunteers to our entry point off of Sierra Morena Road. From there we'll work segments of the trail and end up at the exit on King's Mountain Road.

Lunch will be provided by Chipotle.
